Organized as three modular npm packages (`canvas-core`, `canvas-react`, `canvas-server`), Canvas uses a layered architecture where the React components consume Next.js route handlers that delegate to a CanvasEngine orchestrating LLM calls and Memvid's `.mv2` memory format. Supports multiple LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) with semantic/lexical/hybrid search, RAG-powered chat with citations, and multi-format file ingestion (PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations, JSON/YAML).
