Bumblebee enables ML inference directly in Elixir by wrapping Hugging Face models into high-level task APIs (fill-mask, text generation, image classification) and compiling them with EXLA for CPU/GPU execution. It downloads model weights and tokenizers from Hugging Face Hub, deserializes them from PyTorch or Safetensors formats, and constructs matching Axon architectures based on config files. Integration with Livebook's Smart Cells and Phoenix examples enables deployment from notebooks to production web apps.
