Supports pluggable storage engines (InnoDB, Aria, MyISAM, Xpand) and advanced features like window functions, common table expressions (CTEs), and JSON operations beyond MySQL compatibility. Built with a modular architecture enabling multiple replication topologies, including multi-source replication and Galera cluster integration for synchronous replication. Maintains wire-protocol compatibility with MySQL clients and applications while extending the ecosystem with MariaDB-specific extensions and tooling.
