I created an application which takes in live speech or audio recording as input, converts it into text and displays the relevant Indian Sign Language images or GIFs, using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning Algorithm.
The application combines Google Speech API and offline Sphinx recognition for flexible audio input, preprocesses recognized text using NLP techniques, and maps phrases to a dictionary-based repository of ISL images and GIFs—falling back to character-level fingerspelling visualization for unknown words. Built with PyAudio for microphone capture and EasyGui for the desktop interface, it operates in both online and offline modes to ensure accessibility regardless of connectivity.
